Sugarpalooza Rules!
So, I have gotten out of my funk of same, same, same. I am now preparing for my yearly "Sugarpalooza." Just what is the Sugarpalooza? According to my wise sugar free mentors, they say that they are successful if once a year (some do it more often), they plan on eating sugar for foursih days. My time for sugar will be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I may go a day earlier but I would like not to because I don't want the withdrawals to be hellish. Here is my training plan to work up to the Sugarpalooza...
December 1-23rd I have to exercise every day. I did it today and I felt great!
I had not exercised since I started this sugar free way of life. I think doing this to work up to having my sugar will get me into the pattern of doing it for the next phase of my health goals.
I have to make my own healthy lunch each day instead of skipping it and going to get some junk (sugar free of course...there IS junk that is sugar free-trust me!)
So far I have stuck to the sugarpalooza rules. It is day one, but I am confident. I did not even have one morsel of pumpkin pie, cake or anything on Thanksgiving that contained sugar. I really did not miss it.
This time of year normally puts me into a sugar coma. As someone who works in a school, we get goodies all month long. I come to work and find five or six plates of cookies on my desk. I am a bit scared of eating sugar because of my past experience. I am stronger now, I have proven to myself that I can do it and I feel better being in control of my sugar addiction.
My fun challenge is that my 48 hours is limited and so I will only indulge in the very best sugar treats. What are your suggestions????????????????

Oh my Joy! I will have to think a bit on the best sugar treats! Pecan pie would be up there for me. But really, I've been thinking about it too, and I think my all time favorite Christmas treat (that I plan to allow myself this year) is Russian Wedding Cakes (those little shortbread-pecan balls double dipped in powdered sugar) and my grandma's cinnamon walnut recipe. See's candy is not bad either...I like to have a little plate of treats with a cup of hot spiced apple cider.
That is a great idea--a good motivator to get you to start exercising.
Joy, be sure to get your beauty rest this season.
Yeay! Glad you got out of the funk. It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving holiday, too!
Mmmm...favorite "totally worth it" treats? I'd have to say Enstrom's toffee. They do make a sugar-free version, although I haven't tried it yet. But I have more-than-plenty of experience with their full-sugar version. I can only get this by mail order where I'm at, so it's not an impulse item.
Like Debby, I live in See's candy country. For me, See's is Sunday shopping outings with Mom, jaunts with my girlfriends, yummy holiday candy, and absolutely the Best Easter Candy Ever. (When I was a kid, I usually gave up sweets for Lent...so 12:01 a.m. Easter Sunday was always the kickoff of my Sugarpalooza.) I can unerringly pick my favorites out of the mixed variety boxes; I use these powers for good and help others avoid the ones with icky centers. (Yes, See's does have a very few with icky centers...don't all chocolatiers?)
Favorite homemade item? Chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven.
Best of luck with your plan. And like Debby said, don't forget to get your rest this season! (Easier said, I know.... :-)
Hey, I meant to ask...who are your sugar-free gurus? Are there web sites you find particularly helpful?
Good for you keep it up it gets a lot easier believe me. Love the cookies!

Oh - this sounds like a LOT of fun. I could get into trouble.
Homemade chocolate chip cookies, Nutella and ice cream are my splurge items. :)
Glad to have you posting again!
Oh, my...that sounds fun. And it would be soooo difficult to choose what to eat. I'm afraid I'd go crazy. But some pumpkin pie would make me very happy. And some cheesecake. And some big gourmet chocolate chip cookies.
Better stop. My list is getting too long and I'm getting too hungry. :) Oh...one more...A big bag of Chex Mix (peanut butter and chocolate).
